Baarmutha Beechworth Shiraz 2013
Jame Halliday Australian Wine Companion
Vincent Webb is a modern-day Renaissance man. He is a graduate of oenology and viticulture at CSU, but his full-time occupation is a scheduler with Ausnet Services. He manages the vineyard and winery with plenty of help from wife Sharon, and their young sons. Family and friends hand-select the fruit at harvest, and small quantities of wine are made using precisely what you would expect: a basket press, open vat fermenters, wild yeast fermentation, and maturation in new and used French oak. This is yet another start-up winery in the Beechworth region which has many attractions for both winemakers and wine consumers.

Silken textured, well-weighted, ripe but not overdone. Air of precision. Blue and black berries, spice, sweet soy, a melt of creamy oak. Ultra fine-grained tannin. The longer you sit with it the more impressed you become.
